Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine is a fast-acting, highly effective treatment for depression and PTSD that has not responded to other available treatments. Ketamine has a completely different mechanism of action from any other antidepressant medication and offers hope to the millions of people who have not found adequate help through therapy and traditional pharmaceutical medication alone.

KAP enables subconscious exploration: Traditional psychotherapy encounters a challenge in predominantly engaging the client's conscious mind for identifying and addressing emotional experiences. Yet, a significant portion of these emotional experiences reside in the depths of the subconscious, making them challenging to reach and work through. Ketamine has demonstrated its capacity to facilitate the exploration of the subconscious, empowering clients to delve into and navigate these deeply rooted emotions.

Ketamine creates space for emotional breakthroughs by inducing a state of emotional openness and vulnerability. Combined with the non-judgmental and supportive environment of relational therapy, clients can have profound emotional experiences that lead to lasting change. Accelerating the therapeutic process: Traditional psychotherapy can take years to achieve meaningful results. However, the combination of highly trained relational therapists and KAP can amplify the therapeutic process, allowing clients to make significant progress in a shorter amount of time.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine, with a track record of over half a century as a reliable and safe anesthetic, received the FDA's stamp of approval in 1970 and has been administered billions of times worldwide. Its primary use is in providing anesthesia for minor surgical procedures and offering immediate relief from pain during emergencies. It holds a place on the World Health Organization's list of essential medications, underlining its safety and efficacy when administered under medical supervision to individuals who have undergone proper medical evaluation, are closely monitored, and adhere to essential pre- and post-treatment guidelines.

In the past twenty years, ongoing research into the potential applications of Ketamine in mental health has unveiled its noteworthy antidepressant properties. Studies have revealed that Ketamine provides substantial relief to individuals facing "treatment-resistant depression," a term used when two or more medications have yielded limited benefits. Remarkably, over 70% of participants have exhibited positive responses to this treatment.

This therapy has the potential to assist in resetting thought patterns that are no longer beneficial, alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety, and promoting the healing of trauma.

Steps for Ketamine Services:

Step One: Intake and Medical Assessment ($250, Private Pay Only): During this step, you will meet with our Nurse Practitioner to discuss your medical and mental health history. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions about ketamine and evaluate the suitability of our KAP program for your specific needs. If you are deemed medically fit, our team will work with you to determine the most appropriate KAP program for your goals.

Step Two: Preparatory Sessions ($160 - $200 each, Billable through BCBS): You will engage in 2-3 sessions with your KAP therapist to delve into your history and set intentions for your ketamine sessions. These sessions will also cover what you can expect and your preferences for therapeutic support during and after your experiential sessions.

Step Three: Ketamine Experiential Sessions ($550 each, Private Pay Only): Each of your Ketamine Experiential Sessions will receive comprehensive medical and therapeutic support. These sessions typically last around two hours, with additional time for recovery if necessary. We recommend taking the rest of the day off on your Ketamine Experiential Session days, and you'll need transportation home after each session.

Step Four: Integration Sessions ($160 - $200 each, Billable through BCBS): In the days following each Ketamine Experiential Session, you will meet with your KAP therapist to integrate the insights gained during your experiential sessions and further internalize your experiences.

We have developed several protocols based on existing research concerning the effectiveness of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy for various mental health conditions. Additionally, we offer programs for individuals seeking personal and spiritual development, as well as mental health professionals interested in professional development with a safe, legal opportunity for psychedelic experiential learning.

  • PTSD Protocol: We recommend a flexible scheduling approach for individuals dealing with PTSD symptoms, allowing adequate time to process content between Ketamine Experiential Sessions. Typically, individuals work through a minimum of six (6) sessions at their own pace and may benefit from additional integration sessions.

  • Depression and Anxiety Protocol: Our Intensive 3-6 week KAP Program is based on research protocols for treating Treatment Resistant Depression, showing a strong efficacy rate of over 70% for Major Depressive Disorder and promise in treating anxiety disorders. This intensive program consists of three (3) to six (6) Ketamine Experiential Sessions over three to six weeks, with preparatory and integration therapy sessions included to maximize the impact.

  • Personal Growth and Spiritual Exploration Program: Our shorter, exploratory KAP program is designed for individuals without severe mental health symptoms, focusing on personal growth, overcoming life challenges, and spiritual development. It comprises three (3) Ketamine Experiential Sessions alongside preparatory and integration sessions. These can be facilitated by a clinical therapist or guided by our APRN.

  • Therapist Exploratory Program: Mental health professionals interested in working with clients in psychedelic integration can gain valuable experience through our professional consultation and ala carte Ketamine Experiential Sessions. These sessions offer both professional and personal growth opportunities and align with recommendations for clinicians in this field. These can be facilitated by a clinical therapist or guided by our APRN.

  • Group Therapy Program: Join a group with like-minded individuals that we curate, or customize your own group for healing. The group can be a one time experience, a retreat with multiple sessions, or it can be a series of sessions over the course of time. Group experiences include group preparatory sessions, as well as group integration sessions. We can come to your space, or you can come to ours.
